If you are a regular user of windows and have switched to linux recently, then sure you are going to miss some important this from your windows machine. One such this is those beautiful fonts which you have used in windows.

Method 1:
For installing these fonts there various methods available one among them is as below,

Install a Cab Extract Utility for Linux. Get it from http://www.cabextract.org.uk/
Download the Latest msttcorefonts spec from http://corefonts.sourceforge.net/
If you have RPM Build environment in your home directory, then go ahead with the command. rpmbuild -bb msttcorefonts-2.0-1.spec
Install the newly built rpm using the following command rpm -ivh <>
Once done, log off & log in or restart the xfs service using the command /sbin/service xfs reload

Method 2:
use RPM method,

rpm -ivh msttcorefonts-2.0-1.noarch.rpm

You should be logged in as a super user or use sudo

Configure Apache

To make apache’s public directory available for all the username under a particular domain, you need to do a small amount of change in your httpd.conf file.
you will find a line UserDir public_html in your httpd.conf directory which will be commented by default. Uncomment this Line. By uncommenting this line you will get the error “403 Forbidden”. Now its time to give necessary file permissions. This can be done by giving this command, chmod ugo+r -R public_html.
Now you should be getting default page available in you public html directory. Still if you get Forbidden, then search for your httpd.conf, and file for the string . If you find it, that’s your problem — that particular container is malformed. Delete it or replace it with and restart your server and things should work as expected.

Firefox 2 on FC 6

Every one is aware that Fedora Core 6 come with Firefox 1.5 for various security reasons. But still some people are will to install firefox 2 in their own risk.Installing firefox 2 on FC 6(Fedora Core 6) might be a tough task for some beginner’s.

First don’t try to install on top of the existing One. Please try to uninstall using the following Command.
rpm -e firefox
which will remove the existing version for Firefox from your linux box. After this you need to make sure that you have all the compatibility packages are installed. For example: compat-libstdc++-33 . If you dont have these packages try installing it with yum. If you yum configured yum install compat-libstdc++-33
The download firefox from getfirefox.com. Please download the linux version for firefox.

Alternate you can also try using the following command

yum -y --enablerepo=development update firefox

Choose your Linux
